The intertidal zone is the strip of land between high and low tide, where complex and vital relationships flourish—like cochayuyo, which grows vigorously despite the relentless pounding of waves against the rocks, adapting and thriving in challenging conditions. These algae function as biological monitors, accumulating metals present in the water without succumbing to their toxicity, while simultaneously registering their coexistence with the anthropogenic waste that releases them.

The works comprising this habitat establish interdependent connections between algae and metals, embodying a highly contradictory material experience and the symbiosis of an abstract and accelerated coastline—an ultra intertidal zone. A series of drawings, sculptures, sound organisms, and generative AI images articulate material and digital relationships centered around the algal symbol, which the artist deconstructs and reassembles. The intertwining of artificial, human, and plant intelligence fosters an ecosystem inscribed within an aesthetic and poetics where the boundaries between the biological and the artificial, the physical and the virtual, blur into the fertile coexistence of ancestral, contemporary, and post-digital technologies.

The works presented activate processes of transduction and transposition, confusion and affect, collaboration and bonds between human and non-human identities, bringing forth interspecies relationships within an interconnected environment that evokes an abstract coastline. Ultramareal, then, is an accelerated and expanded intertidal zone projected into a speculative and symbiotic future.

El intermareal es la franja de tierra que se encuentra entre la alta y la baja marea, donde proliferan complejas y vitales relaciones, como el cochayuyo que crece vigorosamente ante el constante embate de las olas sobre las rocas, adaptándose y prosperando en condiciones desafiantes. Estas algas actúan como un monitor biológico, acumulando los metales presentes en el agua sin sucumbir a su toxicidad, registrando al mismo tiempo su convivencia con los desechos antropogénicos que los emanan.

Las obras que comprenden este hábitat establecen vínculos interdependientes entre algas y metales, una experiencia material altamente contradictoria y la simbiosis de un litoral abstracto y acelerado, un intermareal ultra. Series de dibujos, esculturas, organismos sonoros e imágenes generativas de una IA, articulan relaciones materiales y digitales en torno al símbolo alguino que el artista va deconstruyendo y reensamblando. El entrelazamiento entre la inteligencia artificial, la humana y la vegetal propician un ecosistema que se inscribe en una estética y poética donde los límites entre lo biológico y lo artificial, lo físico y lo virtual, se difuminan en la fértil coexistencia de distintas tecnologías ancestrales, contemporáneas y post-digitales.

Las obras presentes activan procesos de transducción y transposición, de confusión y afección, de colaboración y lazos entre identidades humanas y no humanas, haciendo emerger relaciones interespecie de un entorno interconectado que evoca un litoral abstracto. Ultramareal, entonces es intermareal acelerado y expandido a un futuro especulativo y simbiótico.
